Everyone says to check out, "Soon It Will Be Cold Enough" because its a great new Trip Hop album. I tried giving it a chance, and it really didn't come off as a Trip Hop album at all.

Despite Emancipator being frequently tagged as trip-hop here and on other sites, I feel the same way. I adore his work but it's always firmly been more downtempo than trip-hop. Also, "Soon It Will Be Cold Enough" isn't new by any means, it came out in 2006 lmao. If you're looking for some recent trip-hop that more closely resembles the classics from the 90s and early 2000s, check out "James Lavelle Presents UNKLE Sounds - Naples", a mix by James Lavelle in 2015 that has some very cool arrangements and remixes.

Yeah, 2006 is like the tail-end of the Trip Hop genre. But new as in, "this is the new direction of Trip Hop." But to me it doesn't sound like the new direction of Trip Hop, it sounds like a continuation of Downtempo. As for the album itself, the first half is decent, but its so long, its a nearly 70 minute album of just the same thing over and over. I think "Modal Soul" by Nujabes, and "Lightweight Heavy" by Fat Jon do the same, but better.

The new "Mountain of Memory" album is great. Enjoyed it instantly at first listen and had it looped on repeat. Already on my list of best albums of 2020.

На два года целых хватило.)) А если серьёзно, то я вот теперь никогда не заслушиваю музыкантов подряд помногу именно поэтому: сначала кажется, что нравится-нравится, хочется ещё.. а потом - когда уже поздно - понимаешь: "надоело..". У меня с U2 была такая ошибка в своё время.

So Baralku as an album has had about 15 run throughs from me so far, and I must say there isn't a lot there for me, though the title track is growing on me slowly. Underwhelming so far.
