They say, even here on Lastfm, you can't compare OSTs and classical musc. I always wonder why.

Ooh, a shout with substance, and actually about music! That's rare nowadays.) The thing is that filmmusic is like a simplified version of classical. It neither creates anything new (in music as an artform) nor reaches any particular hights. It just draws from what has been done before and reiterates it in a slightly new - and usually more easily accessible - package.

Thank You for the feedback Sir. I do agree that classical music revealed infinite innovative and creative powers of man and of course it keeps on emotionally and spiritually moving so many of us. But simplified doesn't necessary mean bad and progressive isn't always a synonym of perfect. Even a simple folk song can reach the depths of someone's soul, so do many of osts.

Yes! I agree 100%, my friend.:) That's why in different moments of life I equaly love to listen to (nearly) all the msuic: heartfelt pop and rock, cold and crystalline electronica, smooth and cozy jazz, soundtracks (which you never know will remind of what other genre:), etc. And 'progressive' and trying to be always 'out of the box' I consider no less than a cancer of modern Western civilization, to tell the truth.. (
