Melancholic in such a specific way, that, at least for me, is unique to this project. The raw early stuff, through the modern releases. I don't know if anyone saw the interview where Isaac is talking abut Jeremiah after he passes. He said something along the lines of, "A part of me died with him. We were so close, there were things he remembered about me, that I never had or will. So essentially there are parts of me that died with him." That melancholy in their music even spilled out into the vulnerability of an answer like that. I'm not a weepy person but I remembered reading that interview in bed and I just burst into tears. MM has always caught and documented a specific type of jarring sadness. Glad they exist.

Everyone is entitled to their own interpretation of anything but just to clarify, that was not my intent at all. Their music connects with me in what I can only describe as niche pain, a lot of bands can’t conjure up songs from the emotional places they do, it really resonated with me. The answer in that interview felt like it came from the same place as their songs, cause damn I know that feeling, I’ve been there. Hearing it described that way, articulated part of that pain in a way I previously hadn’t thought. Understanding things better helps process. There is an ocean between the concept of understanding and empathizing pain vs romanticizing it, to romanticize tragedy is to be quite naive. Either way, agree to disagree and have a great day.

I like the incoherent yelling/screaming in the background of many of their songs. What is that called? What other bands do it as a stylistic choice?

Will they ever reattain the heights of their first few records? Of course not. Will I ever give up on the idea that another great album resides in Isaac's heart, waiting to be found? Of course not.
